Westfield Carindale was a hive of activity earlier this month, as the centre hosted a Club Kidpreneur market day for 30 Coorparoo State School students who got a taste of real-life business experience, showcasing their micro-businesses and selling their products to customers.

The entrepreneurial youngsters have been organising sponsorships and partnerships. Together, they have received a large amount of support from the community, rolling in a total of $2000 of in-kind donations from sponsors including Bendigo Bank, Coles, Woolworths, Riverband Books, MOVUS, Matherson Farming and Reverse Garbage, so far.

Coorparoo State School Head of Innovation and teacher delivering the program Sue Fish said it has been rewarding learning experience for the students.

“It is a wonderful privilege being part of the CK initiative. I love seeing the students gain skills of resilience and confidence, they are problem solving and working through issues in order to achieve better outcomes” she said.

“The students are learning from one another and mentoring each other. The grade five students who participated in program last year are now peer-mentoring this year’s fifth and six graders.”

If you missed out on the Westfield Carindale market day, the kidpreneurs will be holding their next market day at Coorparoo State School, 27th of November.
